Job posting: Board of Directors Opportunity

Ottawa Victim Services (OVS) is a community-based agency that provides emotional support, practical assistance, and community referrals to victims of crime and tragic circumstances, without judgment in order to lessen the impact of victimization. OVS is committed to treating individuals with courtesy, compassion and with respect for their dignity, privacy and diversity. Clients can access our services through community service agencies, the police, hospitals or self-referrals.

We are currently looking to fill positions on our Board of Directors.  We specifically invite applications from candidates who possess expertise in fundraising, marketing and communications, board governance, or possess relevant lived experiences. However, we warmly encourage applications from all interested individuals.

Directors of the Board of OVS are responsible for:

• Attending monthly board meetings to ensure organizational governance, financial accountability, adopt policy, and strategic directions. Meetings are in-person with hybrid options or virtual.
• A time commitment of at least three hours a month; including at least one board meeting and one possible committee meeting.
• A three-year term, renewable once.
• Abiding by agency by-laws and showing a commitment to the advancement of OVS’ strategic directions.

Director positions are voluntary and there is no financial remuneration.
