Sarah Johnston-Way has more than 10 years experience working in the public sector on policies and programs related to victimization and the criminal justice system, including roles in policy development and analysis with the Office of the Federal Ombudsman for Victims of Crime, Public Safety Canada, leading the National Strategy for the Protection of Children from Sexual Exploitation on the Internet and the National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking, and with the Canadian Centre for Justice and Community Safety Statistics. Sarah holds an honours Bachelor or Arts degree in Criminal Justice and Public Policy from the University of Guelph, and a Master of Arts in Political Science with specialization in Women and Public Policy from York University, with research interests in feminist political economy, intersectional analysis, and social welfare policy. More recently, Sarah has taken on a management role in the federal public service with responsibility in Human Resources, and People Management analytics. Sarah lives in the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe people, also known as Ottawa, and is the mother of two children, and human companion to her rescue dog Ruby.
