Heather has been a police officer for 28 years. She began with the OPP and in 1999 joined the Ottawa Police Service. She has worked in various positions including Patrol, Community Policing, Human Resources and the Partner Assault Unit. She made a decision to advance my career by going through a number of promotional processes that allowed her to work in our Professional Standards Unit, Training Section, on the road as a Critical Incident Commander and as an Inspector in Specialized investigations. She is currently the Acting Superintendent of Criminal Investigations Directorate. She also leads the Violence Against Women portfolio and worked closely with the advocates in the community and the Victim Support Unit to improve service to victims/survivors. Heather is passionate about her job and dedicated to improving things for all members in her police service including equity, diversity and inclusion. She lives a very active lifestyle and fitness is a large factor in her life. She is married with two children ages 19 and 18.
